Traditionally, Märzen beers were brewed stronger towards the end of the winter brewing season so they could be stored and enjoyed through the warmer months. The style later became closely associated with Bavarian autumn festivals and Oktoberfest, making Märzen a popular choice for anyone looking to explore richer, more traditional German festival beers.

Rothaus brings its own distinctive character to the style, producing a full-bodied, malt-forward lager with plenty of depth while remaining smooth and balanced.

Brewed using regional barley malt, soft spring water and aromatic hops from Tettnang and Hallertau, Rothaus Märzen delivers a rich and rounded flavour without becoming overly sweet. A higher original gravity gives the beer added body, while relatively mild hopping allows the malt character to remain at the centre of the experience.

Expect gentle caramel and cereal notes, fresh bread and biscuit flavours, followed by subtle herbal hop character and a clean bitterness through the finish. The result is smooth, full-bodied and balanced, with enough richness to make it feel distinctly different from a lighter German Pils or Helles.
