About Rothaus
Founded in 1791, Rothaus is an independent German brewery based in the heart of the Black Forest. Known for its distinctive Tannenzäpfle branding and commitment to traditional brewing methods, Rothaus produces a range of beers that showcase Bavarian craftsmanship and regional character. Brewed according to the Reinheitsgebot (German Beer Purity Law), each Rothaus beer is made with pure spring water from the forest and high-quality local ingredients.
Brewing in the Black Forest Since 1791
Rothaus began as a small brewery serving the local monastery and nearby villages. Over two centuries later, it has grown into one of Germany’s most respected independent breweries, famous for its clean, balanced lagers and refreshing wheat beers. Its location, over 1,000 metres above sea level, provides pristine water and a cool brewing climate, ideal for producing consistently crisp and flavourful beer.
